Golden Trail World Series 2023

After a thrilling 2022 season that ended with an unprecedented final in Madeira, which saw the triumphs of Rémi Bonnet (Team Salomon / Red Bull, Switzerland) and Nienke Brinkman (Team Nike Trail, Netherlands), the Golden Trail World Series now turns its attention to 2023, with a new calendar and a final in Italy. Here's the program!

The year of the great classics

For its 2023 version, the Golden Trail World Series has decided to return to the routes that have made it such a success, and which are particularly popular with runners. So, in addition to the three unmissable classics - Zegama, the Mont Blanc Marathon, Sierre-Zinal - this year will see the return of two other familiar GTWS races, the Dolomyths Run in Italy and the Pikes Peak Ascent in the USA. Only one event will make its debut in the 2023 season: the Mammoth 26K at the Mammoth Trail Fest in California.

With this program, we're offering runners the chance to take part in emblematic races and to take part in a real trail-running festival over each weekend," explains Grégory Vollet, director of the Golden Trail Series. These events are all highly anticipated and have a real soul. Take the Dolomyths Run for example: in addition to its route through the Dolomites and the magnificent landscapes it traverses, this year the race will celebrate its 25th anniversary, which promises an even more exceptional experience!"

A final in Italy

In 2023, Italy's Liguria region has been chosen to host the grand finale of the Golden Trail World Series. The event - Il Golfo dell'Isola Trail Race - will comprise a prologue and a race of around 25 km with 1200 m D+. Thursday will see the women's prologue, Friday the men's prologue, Saturday the women's race and Sunday the men's race. All races are open to all, and will each give rise to an OPEN and ELITES ranking, as well as a team ranking of the best Golden Trail National Series. We chose this option in order to offer the same media exposure to the women's and men's categories," explains Grégory Vollet. This way, we'll be able to follow the battles at the head of the race from start to finish, in both the men's and women's categories. What's more, we're confident that athletes will come out to support their counterparts if they're not racing, which also promises more trail-side spectacle!"
