How to get to Chamonix

Chamonix Mont-Blanc is 2 hours from Lyon and 1 hour from Annecy and Geneva. On the border between Italy and Switzerland, it's a charming mountain resort with all the services of a small town.

As part of its commitment to sustainable development, ATMB (Autoroutes et Tunnel du Mont Blanc) is supporting the organization of the Mont-Blanc Marathon in the area of eco-mobility. We invite runners and their companions to use public transport.

Shuttles for runners

For the start of the 90km and 42km races, the organizers have set up special buses.
 

Here are the timetables below.

This will enable runners to get to the start of the race without using their cars.

Shuttles for accompanying persons

Free shuttles will be available for accompanying persons on Friday June 23 for the 90km, Saturday June 24 for the 23km Mont-Blanc and Sunday June 25 for the 42km Mont-Blanc.

Mont-Blanc 90km - Friday June 23, 2023

Departures from Chamonix will be from the "Place du Mont-Blanc" stop next to the Trail Camp in the direction of Le Buet.

Shuttle buses will run between Le Buet and Emosson.  

For the return journey, accompanying persons must take public transport from Le Buet.

23 km du Mont-Blanc - Saturday June 24, 2023

Departures from Chamonix will be from the "La Frasse" stop next to the Aire des Parapentes in the direction of Montroc.

For the return journey, shuttles will run between Montroc and the bottom of the Planpraz cable car.

42 km of Mont-Blanc - Sunday June 25, 2023

Departures from Chamonix will be from the "Place du Mont-Blanc" stop next to the Trail Camp on the way to the Tour.

Shuttle buses will run between Le Tour and Vallorcine.  

For the return journey, shuttles will run between Le Tour and the bottom of the Planpraz cable car.

The urban network

The Chamonix Bus urban transport network serves the entire Chamonix valley, from Servoz to Le Tour.

To preserve the environment in which the Mont Blanc Marathon races take place, and to make it easier for the public to get around, all public transport in the valley (bus and train) from Servoz to Vallorcine will be free on presentation of a guest card. Ask your accommodation provider for this card.
