Getting around the Chamonix Valley

Getting Around During the Event

Thanks to our partners ATMB (Autoroutes et Tunnel du Mont-Blanc) and New Balance, we’re providing better support for the 40,000 people coming to attend or participate in the event.

To make getting around easier and reduce the carbon footprint, a dedicated, free transportation plan (buses, shuttles, and trains) is available in addition to the Chamonix Valley’s public transit system.

To get to the race start lines outside the hours served by the valley’s public transit system, buses and trains will be available to take you safely to the starting lines of the various races: 90 km, 42 km, and 10 km:

  • from Vallorcine

  • from the Saint-Gervais-les-Bains – Le Fayet train station

  • from Les Houches

To follow the runners along the courses, special buses, shuttles, and trains are available for spectators. These will allow you to follow the runners along the entire 90 km, 42 km, and 23 km courses.

Find all the practical information, schedules, and detailed stop locations in the transportation guide below.

How to get around

Chamonix Mobility Buses
Chamonix mobilité

Chamonix has an efficient bus network linking the valley's main hamlets and communes. The Chamonix Mobilité network offers an affordable and environmentally-friendly way to get around, whether for everyday residents or visitors wishing to explore the region.

The bus is free only for Via'Cham cardholders (Chamonix Valley residents and workers). The Chamonix Mobilité network is made up of 4 main lines running all year round. These 4 lines serve Les Houches, Chamonix Mont-Blanc, Argentière and Le Tour. They are all linked to the Mont-Blanc Express, which runs by rail from Saint-Gervais-les-Bains - Le Fayet to the bottom of the valley. In other words, all the way to Martigny in Switzerland. The last station in France is Vallorcine.
