7. Medical certificate, licence, health questionnaire for minors

The Organizer entrusts DOKEOP SAS with the management of supporting documents via its application. Its missions with the Organizer are to :

  • Collect supporting documents from athletes registered for one of the Mont Blanc Marathon races.
  • Check that the Supporting Documents comply with the rules of the Sporting Event and/or the rules of the Federation concerned and/or the legislation in force, as the case may be.
  • Send regular e-mail reminders to athletes who have not yet submitted their Supporting Documents.
  • Communicate the status of each verified Supporting Document to the Organizer of the Sporting Event: Awaiting verification / Validated / Refused.
  • Communicate the status of each Registration (Dokeop side) to the Sports Event Organizer: Waiting for document / Waiting for new document / Waiting for verification / Validated / Refused / Cancelled.
  • Archiving supporting documents on a secure server

To finalize their registration for one of the Mont Blanc Marathon races, participants receive an email from Dokeop inviting them to submit their document to the application within a time limit set by the event organizer.

Use of the application implies immediate and unconditional acceptance of Dokeop's terms and conditions.

The user must then follow the link to the Application. The user is free to create a member account or not. The Application is independent of the sports event registration Platform used by the organizer.

The Participant or legal representative guarantees the truthfulness and accuracy of the data transmitted, as well as the authenticity of the Supporting Document when it is submitted. If the Supporting Document is not accurate and/or authentic, the Athlete or legal representative may not under any circumstances take legal action against either Dokeop or the Organizer, in particular in the event of an accident occurring during his/her participation in a Sports Event.

Dokeop reserves the right to refuse any document it deems suspicious or possibly falsified on the basis of a number of clues. It is reminded in this respect that the production of a false medical certificate constitutes an offence of forgery and use of forgeries, article 441-1 of the French Penal Code punishing this offence with up to three (3) years' imprisonment and a 45,000-euro fine.

All supporting documents submitted by athletes or their legal representatives must comply with the requirements of the French Sports Code (articles L231-2 et seq.).

Medical certificates must mention: (i) the absence of any contraindication to the practice of the sport or discipline concerned "in competition", (ii) be dated less than one year before the date of the competition for participation in a competition (iii) include the contact details, signature and stamp of the doctor who carried out the examination of the Athlete.

In the case of disciplines presenting special constraints, as referred to in article L231-2-3 of the French Sports Code, a medical certificate less than one (1) year old must be provided, establishing the absence of any contraindication to the practice of the discipline concerned, only when obtaining the first license and then when renewing it.

In accordance with article D. 231-1-4-1 of the Code du Sport, for minors, in order to register for a sporting competition covered by article L. 231-2-1, the athlete and the persons exercising parental authority must jointly complete a health questionnaire, the content of which is specified in article A. 231-3 of the Code du Sport.

The persons exercising parental authority over the minor athlete must certify to the Organizer that each section of the questionnaire has been answered in the negative. Failing this, they are required to produce a medical certificate attesting to the absence of contraindication to the practice of the sport or discipline concerned "in competition" dated less than six (6) months.

Dokeop accepts Supporting Documents written in the languages accepted by the rules of the federation of the discipline concerned. Unless otherwise specified in the regulations, only Documents Justificatifs written in French or in a foreign language with a French translation will be accepted. The content of the French translation will prevail over the foreign-language content.

If you have any questions or complaints about the processing of your supporting document, please consult the Dokeop FAQ.

You can generate a medical certificate template by following the link

For the Duo étoilé, the 90km, the 42km, and the 23km du Mont-Blanc, if one of the supporting documents conforming to the regulations is not provided to the organization via the DOKEOP platform before March 15, 2024, the registration will be automatically cancelled with no refund possible. No reminder will be sent to you; it is up to you to complete and check the status of your registration on your runner registration profile.

For other races (10km, KMV, Young Race Marathon), a supporting document must be uploaded to the DOKEOP platform within one month of your registration. If you fail to do so, you will not be able to pick up your race number at the registration desk, and therefore will not be able to start the race.

8. Registrations

By registering, each runner makes the following personal commitments:

  • I declare that I have fully understood the rules and ethics of the race.
  • I understand and accept the conditions of participation set out in these rules.
  • I undertake to abide by the rules in all respects.
  • I declare that I hold personal accident insurance covering rescue, search and evacuation costs in France and Switzerland.
  • I declare that I have informed myself of any medical contraindications that may apply to me and, consequently, release the organization from any medical problems that may arise during the event as a result of negligence on my part.
  • I hereby declare that I have satisfied the obligation of prior medical consultation by providing a medical certificate stating that I have no contraindications to running, that I have informed myself of any medical contraindications that may apply to me and that I hereby release the organization from any medical problems that may arise during the event as a result of negligence on my part. médicales susceptibles de me concerner et en conséquences, décharger
  • the organization of any medical problems that may arise during the event.
  • I agree to submit to any fixed or random checks that may be carried out along the route, and to any decisions that may be taken against me.

All entries are personal, firm and final, and cannot be reimbursed for any reason whatsoever.

All entries are personal. No transfer of registration is authorized for any reason whatsoever. Any person transferring his or her number or registration to a third party will be held responsible in the event of an accident occurring or caused by the third party during the event. Any person holding a race number or registration acquired in breach of the present regulations will be disqualified without reimbursement. Any runner caught in the act of reselling a race number will have his or her entry cancelled without refund.

Race numbers must be fully legible during the race. The organization declines all responsibility in the event of an accident.

9. Organization of entries by drawing lots

Registration online only, with secure credit card payment.
Entries for the 42km, 23km, 90km Mont-Blanc and Duo étoilé will be drawn by lot.

  • Registration for the 90km, 42km, 23km Mont-Blanc and Duo étoilé draws will take place from October 20, 2023 at 9:00 am to November 06, 2023 at 12:00 pm. If the number of pre-registrations for a race exceeds the maximum number of runners possible, a draw will be organized.
  • The results will be announced between November 10, 2023 at 10:00 am.
  • Runners selected in the draw will receive an e-mail informing them of the result and specifying the finalization of the registration procedure (payment, additional information, etc.). They will have until November 22, 2023 at 12:00 pm to finalize their registration. After this date, they will no longer be able to benefit from the positive result of the draw.
  • Runners wishing to pre-register must choose one of the four races: 90km, 42km, 23km or Star Duo. They will not be able to take part in the draw for all four races.
  • Group/couple registration: It is possible to pre-register as a group for the 90km, 42km or 23km Mont-Blanc (minimum 2 people, maximum 10 people per group on the same race only, with your spouse, running companions, etc.). If a group consists of more than 10 people, it will not be entered in the draw.
The only advantage of registering as a group is to have the same result in the draw for all group members, whether positive or negative.
The probability of being drawn is the same for all runners, whether pre-registered individually or as a group. To do this, each group member must fill in the "group code" information on his or her registration form. The code must be created by the 1st member of the group to register and then passed on to the other members of the group. It is then up to the group leader to know who is in his group. Be very careful when entering the group code, as in the event of a code error, group members will not be grouped together under the same group. We recommend that you do not use spaces or special characters in the group name, only capital letters and numbers.
Example of a group code: MBM189
This is an example, please do not use this code.
10. Cancellation of entries

For participants who so wish, "cancellation" insurance is offered at the time of registration for one of the Mont Blanc Marathon races on the registration platform, whose policy can be consulted via this link. This option must be taken out before the order is validated. This option allows the participant, under certain conditions established by the insurer chosen by the organizer, to be reimbursed for the registration fees paid.

With regard to the civil liability of participants, this insurance is limited to accidents they may cause during the running of the Mont Blanc Marathon. This cover is in addition to, or in default of, any other insurance that participants may have. Proof of insurance cover is available on request.

Material damage

The organizer declines all responsibility in the event of damage (theft, breakage, loss, etc.) to participants' personal property, even if it is under the organizer's supervision. The participant, in his capacity as owner, expressly agrees to retain custody of his personal property during the event. Participants may not claim against the organizer for any damage to their equipment. It is the responsibility of each participant to take out insurance to cover these risks.

16. Health measures

The unprecedented health crisis of recent years, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, has disrupted all our activities.

The evolution of the situation in France and the latest governmental measures allow us to envisage the organization of the 2024 Mont-Blanc Marathon.

However, it is possible that sanitary measures will come back into force at the time of the 2024 edition of the Mont-Blanc Marathon races, so runners will be obliged to respect them.

Reminder of the conditions issued by the government

Let's fight together against Covid-19. Let's respect barrier gestures to limit and slow the spread of the virus.

  • Wash your hands regularly or use a hydro-alcoholic solution.
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow or handkerchief.
  • Blow your nose into a single-use tissue, then throw it away.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Maintain a distance of at least one metre from others.
  • Say hello without shaking hands, and stop hugging.

In the absence of treatment, the best protection for you and your loved ones is to respect barrier measures and physical distance at all times. In addition, wear a mask when the one-meter distance cannot be respected.

17. Refreshments

The Mont Blanc Marathon is a semi-autonomous race. Semi-autonomy is defined as the ability to be self-sufficient between two refreshment points, in terms of food, clothing and safety equipment, enabling the runner to adapt to any problems encountered or foreseeable (bad weather, physical problems, injuries, etc.).
Only runners wearing a visible race number and duly checked are allowed access to the refreshment posts.

It is up to runners to estimate their water and food requirements between two refreshment points. The quantity of water stipulated in the list of compulsory equipment is a minimum quantity, and it is then up to each runner to estimate his or her needs and provide food and water accordingly.

Two types of refreshments are available:

Light refreshments: still water, sparkling water, energy drinks, cola, tea, fruit.

Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

ull refreshments: light refreshments (as above) + energy bars, fruit, sugar, crackers, salt, cheese, sausage, bread, soup (only on the 90km or in case of bad weather on other races).

Any runner seen littering the course will be penalized. Waste sorting and composting garbage cans are provided in large numbers at each aid station and must be used.

18. Support

Accompanying persons are not allowed inside the refreshment area.

19. Racing behaviour

If, on the basis of a report from a member of the organization, the race jury is convinced that an athlete has left the marked course (thereby reducing the distance to be covered), has received any form of assistance in managing his pace or outside the authorized feed zones, or has failed to comply with any provision of the specific race regulations, he may be disqualified or given the penalty provided for in the specific race regulations under the heading "Penalization / disqualification".

20. Equipement

The equipment required complies with the administrative and technical rules specific to trails published by the FFA. Each runner undertakes to carry the safety equipment specified in these regulations throughout the race (before the start, during the race and in the finish area) and to present it to the organizer at any time during the event.

Checks may be carried out at any time during the event to ensure that the race runs smoothly. Riders are obliged to submit to these checks in a cordial manner, and will be disqualified if they refuse to be checked or fail to comply with the penalty.

Please note that cups are not available at the refreshment stations on any of the Mont Blanc Marathon races.

21. SAS departure

PFor the 90km, 42km and 23km of Mont-Blanc, the starting SAS are formed according to the runner's UTMB index one month before the race. A runner with no UTMB index will be assigned to the last SAS start. A runner whose UTMB index has changed between the time of the SAS assignment and race day will not be able to change SAS.

For the Mont-Blanc 10km, the starting SAS will be assigned according to the time estimated by the runner to complete the race at the time of registration. Runners will be allocated to their SAS one month before the race date.

No claims may be made to the organization regarding the allocation of SASs, and by registering runners undertake to accept the SAS to which they will be allocated on race day.

22. Bibs

The race number must be visible throughout the entire race.

The race number must be worn on the chest or stomach; it is forbidden to wear it on the back or on the backpack.

The use of a number belt is permitted.

23. Delivery of race numbers

Bib numbers will be issued by appointment only. The runner must choose a time slot. No race numbers will be issued outside this time slot.

At the time of number collection, runners must bring their race bag with them, including all compulsory equipment for timing chip fitting and equipment checks. Numbers will not be issued to runners who do not present the compulsory equipment for the race in which they are entered.

Each race number is handed over to the runner on presentation of photo ID. Without this document, the race number will not be issued. Runners must know their number before picking it up. Bib numbers can be collected at Place du Mont-Blanc by appointment.

It is up to runners to find out the number collection times for the race they are taking part in when they register, so that they can plan their arrival in Chamonix accordingly.

24. Time barriers

The time limits indicated below are given for information only, and may be modified if necessary for the safety of participants. In the event of adverse weather conditions, and for safety reasons, the organization reserves the right to stop the event in progress or modify the time limits. All decisions will be taken by the event jury.

Maximum times and time limits throughout the race take account of any delays (traffic jams, equipment checks, waiting at refreshment points). It is up to the runners to take the necessary steps to calculate their race time.

In the case of a wave start, time limits are applied from the start time of the last wave.

The maximum race time, on the other hand, is calculated on the basis of the runner's start time.

La Flègère (km 18): Start time of last wave + 4h30 of race.

  • La Flègère (km 18): Start time of last wave + 4h30 of race.
  • Le Buet feed station (km 27): Start time of last wave + 6h30 of race.
  • La Villaz (km 38): Start time for last wave + 9 hrs race.
  • Emosson feed station (km 43): Start time for last wave + 11:00 race.
  • Le Chatelard (km 47): Start time for last wave + 12:00 race.
  • Ravitaillement du Tour (km 62): Start time for last wave + 16:15 race.
  • Les Bois feed station (km 72): Start time for last wave + 18:30 race.
  • Montenvers feed station (km 78): Start time for last wave + 21:00 race.
  • Plan de l'Aiguille refreshment station (km 83): Start time for last wave + 23:00.

The maximum time for the entire 42km course is 10 hours. The time barriers are as follows:

  • Ravitailissement du Tour (km 12.5): Start time of last wave + 2h45 of race.
  • Vallorcine feed station (km 22.2): Start time of last wave + 5h30 of race.
  • La Flégère feed station (km 32.8): Start time of last wave + 8h30 of race.

The maximum time for the entire 23km course is 6 hours. The time barriers are as follows:

  • Montroc feed station (km 12): Start time of last wave + 2h30 of race.
  • La Flégère feed station (km 18): Start time of last wave + 4h30 of race.

The maximum time for the Duo étoilé, for the entire course, is 6h30. The time barriers are as follows:

  • Croisement chemin Caillet (km 4,5) : départ de la dernière vague + 1h15 de course.
  • Montenvers refreshment station (km 7): start of last wave + 2h30 of race.
  • Plan de l'Aiguille refuge refreshment point (km 13): departure of last wave + 4h30 of race.

The maximum time for the Mont-Blanc 10 km, for the entire course, is set at 2h30. After this time, runners will not be classified and will be collected by the broom wagon, so they will not be allowed to cross the finish line.

The time limits are imperative, and the procedure is non-negotiable. A runner arriving at a time barrier after the deadline will be disqualified. The lower right-hand corner of the race number will be "cut out" by the station manager, and the runner will be asked to take public transport back to Chamonix. If the runner wishes to continue on the course, his or her number will be collected by the station chief and the runner will no longer be considered a participant in the Mont Blanc Marathon, and will therefore no longer be under the responsibility of the organizer.

In the case of a wave start, time barriers are applied from the start time of the last wave.

If you cross the finish line of the 90 km, 42 km, 23 km or star duo beyond the maximum race time indicated above, you will not be classified and therefore not considered a finisher.

Anyone disrespecting the volunteers in charge of this function will be permanently banned from all Mont Blanc Marathon events.

The starting SAS are determined according to the runner's UTMB performance index. A runner with no performance index will be assigned to the last starting SAS. The organization allocates the start SASs impartially, and no claims can be made regarding the allocation of SASs.

25. Maximum running time

For each Mont Blanc Marathon race, a maximum time is set. Runners crossing the finish line after the maximum race time will not be classified and therefore not considered a finisher.

This maximum time is calculated according to your start time. In the case of a wave start, your maximum race time will be calculated on the basis of your wave start time.

Maximum time for each race:

  • 90km du Mont-Blanc: 25h00
  • 42km Mont-Blanc: 10h00
  • 23km Mont-Blanc: 6h00
  • Star duo: 6h30
  • Young Race Marathon: 4h00
  • 10km Mont-Blanc: 2h30
  • Km Vertical: no maximum time

For the Mont-Blanc 10km, the maximum time for the entire course is 2h30. After this time, runners will not be classified and will be collected by the broom wagon. They will therefore not be allowed to cross the finish line.

26. Surrenders

In the event of withdrawal, the competitor must notify the nearest refreshment post or checkpoint, giving his or her race number. If no member of the organization is present next to the competitor, the latter must contact race HQ to report his or her withdrawal. The race HQ number is noted on the competitor's number.

In the event of withdrawal, the lower right-hand corner of the race number will be "cut off" by the head of the station, and the runner will be invited to take public transport back to Chamonix. Anyone disrespecting the volunteers in charge of this function will be permanently banned from all Mont Blanc Marathon events.

For the Duo Etoilé, if one of the two runners in the duo wishes to drop out, his or her team-mate must also drop out. It will not be possible to continue the race alone.

27. Course modification

In the event of excessively unfavorable weather conditions (large quantities of rain and snow at high altitude, high risk of thunderstorms, etc.) and following the decision of the race jury, the organization reserves the right to modify start times, courses and time barriers.

Runners will be notified of these changes by SMS and e-mail. All information will also be posted at the key race locations (race start, number collection).

28. Safety

Aid stations are set up at several points along the course. These posts are linked by radio or telephone to race headquarters.
A medical team will be present throughout the event. It will be able to intervene on the course by any appropriate means, including by helicopter if necessary.
It is the responsibility of any runner in difficulty or seriously injured to call for help:

  • By going to an aid station
  • By asking another runner to call for help.

It is the responsibility of each runner to provide assistance to any person in danger and to call for help.
Any problem or accident must be reported immediately to the nearest checkpoint.
Don't forget that the environment and the race may cause you to wait longer than expected for help. Your safety then depends on the quality of what you've packed in your bag.

A runner who calls on the services of a doctor or first-aid attendant submits to their authority and agrees to accept their decisions.

  • First-aid attendants and race doctors are empowered :
  • Remove from the race any competitor physically unable to continue.
  • Hospitalize any runners whose state of health so requires.

Expenses arising from the use of exceptional means of rescue or evacuation will be borne by the person rescued, who must also ensure his or her return from the place where he or she was evacuated. It is the rider's sole responsibility to set up and submit a claim to his personal insurance company within the allotted time.

If you are unable to contact race HQ, you can call the emergency services directly (especially if you are in an "emergency only" zone) 112 from France.

29. Jury

An Official Jury will be appointed. Its decision-making power is final. It may decide to postpone or cancel the race, depending on weather conditions.

The jury is made up of one member from each of the following organizations:

  • First-aid center
  • Chamoniarde
  • Chamonix Sports Club
  • CNEAS
  • Croix Blanche
  • Croix Rouge
  • Dokever
  • EMHM
  • Chamonix Town Hall
  • Vallorcine Town Hall
  • Coordinating doctor

The president of the jury is the race director, who will make the final decision following consultation.
