This year, the mountain bike section of Chamonix Sports Club was awarded a grant from the funds raised through the solidarity bibs for the Mont Bank marathon. The Club, our partners and sponsors, would all like extend our sincere thanks to the runners who will wear these solidarity bibs.
The mountain bike section hosts nearly 90 children from the valley, and although mountain biking is only a seasonal sport in Chamonix, we are a very competitive club, last year winning the overall prize for best club at the Provincial Championships for Young Mountain Bikers (TDJV).
Our plan is to use the funds raised to support our young bikers in training and participation in races, so that we can offer this at the lowest possible cost, and make mountain bike racing accessible to all.
Your generosity, through your donation for your Mont Blanc marathon bib, has allowed 36 children between the ages of 8 to 17 to participate in a training camp over three days in the Buëch area of the Hautes Alpes. This wild environment was perfect for mountain biking across all age groups, and allowed us to both initiate and improve the children’s mountain biking skills.
The camp was also a moment of cohesion, mutual support and sharing between the children, both in their sport but also by living together (camping, preparing meals, looking after their equipment..). Thanks to this grant, we were also able to offer our young mountain bikers a caving session in the Super-Devoluy underground cave system.
We are happy to be able to share this wonderful experience with you through a set of photos from the camp.
We thank you very much for your help and assure you that we have been able to use your donation wisely for the benefit of our children!
